Élan: food, weight and energy logging
What Élan is
In plain words
Élan is a web app that logs your meals from a photo, a voice note or a few words, records your weigh-ins, and estimates the calories you eat and burn.
Its AI drafts every food entry. You check it, correct it and confirm it.
- Web app · phone and desktop
- Monthly · from $19
- Software only · not medical advice
Features
One record. Seven readings.
Food, weight, activity and what you take, kept in one place. Both plans include every feature.
Log: Show it. Say it. Confirm it.
Photograph a plate, a menu, a label or a kitchen scale. Send a voice note, or type a line. Élan's AI drafts an itemised entry with calories and macros. Nothing is logged until you confirm it.
Look up: Figures with a source.
Élan checks your own recipes and saved foods first, then a food catalogue built on USDA data, then Open Food Facts or the brand's published figures. You see the source. If nothing matches, the figures are the AI's estimate.
Kitchen: Your kitchen, on file.
Save the ingredients and recipes you actually eat, with photos and household measures. Log them in a tap, with no AI involved. Plan meals ahead, and share a food with another member by link.
Weight: Trend weight, not scale noise.
Log weigh-ins in kg or lb, with body fat if you know it. Élan smooths them into a trend weight and a weekly rate, so one salty dinner doesn't read as a setback.
Activity: Your watch, by screenshot.
Send a screenshot from your watch or fitness app. Élan reads your active calories and steps for you to confirm. No pairing, no account linking, nothing running in the background.
Energy: Calories in. Calories out. Estimated.
Élan estimates your resting burn with standard formulas, adds the activity you log, and shows your balance hour by hour and across the week. With a couple of weeks of logs and weigh-ins, it can also compare what you ate with how your weight moved.
Targets you can edit.
Choose a direction (lose, maintain or gain) and a pace. Élan suggests a daily calorie and macro target from your own data. Change it, or set your own in Macro Studio, whenever you like.
Regimen: What you take, on time.
Keep a schedule of the supplements, vitamins and other doses you already take, with reminders when you open Élan. It records what you take. It never suggests what to take or how much.
Also in Élan
- Notes with optional reminders
- An in-app notification centre
- A usage meter for your AI allowance
- Add Élan to your phone's home screen
How it works
The AI drafts. You decide.
Élan's AI is one part of the logging tools. It reads your photos, voice notes and messages so you don't have to type every item.
Estimates, itemised.
Every draft is split into items, each with a portion, calories, protein, carbs and fat. Edit any line before you save. Photos are the roughest input, because portions, oils and sauces are hard to see.
Nothing logged behind your back.
Meals, activity and corrections are added only when you confirm them. If you tell Élan your weight or a new goal, it says what it will record first. Changed your mind? Undo within 24 hours.
Clear limits.
Élan is software, not a doctor, dietitian or coach. It doesn't diagnose, treat or advise on medication. Answers about your numbers are general information, and they can be wrong.
An allowance, not a meter.
AI requests use your plan's allowance, which resets every 5 hours and every week. At the limit, chat pauses, but your Kitchen, weigh-ins and history keep working. Setting up your profile never counts.
The AI is Google's Gemini, used through Google's paid API.
Privacy
Your record stays yours.
No ads. No selling. No analytics.
Élan doesn't sell your data or use it for advertising. There are no analytics or advertising cookies, on this site or in the app.
Health data, treated as such.
Much of what you log is health information. We use it only to run Élan for you, with your explicit consent. The AI receives what each reply needs, and not your email address.
Where it lives.
The app runs on servers in Frankfurt, Germany, where your photos are stored too. The database is hosted by Supabase. Google handles AI requests under paid API terms that bar it from using your content to improve its products.
Leave whenever you like.
Cancel and your data stays, so you can pick up where you left off. Ask, and we'll send you a copy or delete your account, photos included, within 30 days.

Questions, answered.
What is Élan?
A web app for logging food, weigh-ins and activity. Photograph, say or type what you ate, and its AI drafts an itemised entry for you to confirm. It also estimates what you burn. Works on phone or desktop.
Is Élan medical or dietary advice?
No. Élan is software for logging and estimating. Its figures, targets and AI replies are general information, not medical or dietary advice, and they can be wrong. If you're pregnant or have a health condition, talk to a doctor first.
How accurate are the estimates?
They're estimates. Packaged foods use the label's figures, and lookups show their source. Photos of mixed dishes are rougher, because portions, oils and sauces are hard to see. Every entry is itemised, so you can correct it.
How does Élan estimate what I burn?
Resting burn comes from standard formulas: Mifflin–St Jeor, or Katch–McArdle if you know your body fat. Activity comes from watch screenshots you send; there's no device sync. With a couple of weeks of logs and weigh-ins, Élan can also compare your intake with your weight trend.
Is there a coach or a person involved?
No. Élan is software only. Its AI assistant (labelled Coach in the app) drafts entries and answers questions about your logs. There are no human coaches, dietitians, calls or community.
Who is Élan for?
Adults aged 18 and over who want a careful record of what they eat and how their weight moves. It isn't designed for children or for medical use.
How much is it, and can I cancel?
Standard is $19 a month and Premium $34, in US dollars. Both include every feature; Premium has twice the AI allowance. Cancel any time. Your first payment has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Who makes Élan?
Élan is designed, built and run by Arslan Siddique, a sole proprietor in Pakistan, trading as Élan. Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our online reseller and Merchant of Record.
